Jacovia's Biography

Jacovia has been involved in music since he was 4, when he began playing the Rhodes Organ with his father, Major Cunningham, a well known Buffalo Blues musician.

Between 1978 and 1989, Jacovia sang with the St. Phillips Boys and Mens Choir led by Donald Hilliard III, where he completed music studies of music theory, instrumentation, soloing, music dictation, and live performances throughout the United States and Europe.

Jacovia joined Saint Paul's Cathedral Choir led by FAGO organist Bruce Neswick. This experience, which lasted from 1989-1990, led me to Europe to sing in some of the greatest Cathedrals in the World.

In 1990, finishing out his senior year at St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, he ended up producing an album for Amherst Records Label out of Buffalo, giving him his first taste of non-secular music. Jacovia was hooked on the big sound of studio and the ability to track music.

In 1991 Jacovia moved to California in search of better music opportunities. In LA, he found found the lovely voice of Sarah Carroll, aka Seracy. They married in 1992 and by 1995, started their first studio.

In 1997, Jacovia and Seracy launched their music partnership of Playwidease Productions.

By 2001, they had landed a Distribution Deal with Bayside Records, a Tower Distribution Company, peaking the interest of new R&B representative Brandon Cruz.

From 2002 on, PlayWidEase began focusing on producing the duo of whats come to be known as Sonada Malay.

Jacovia has worked in the Studio with some of the most talented Urban, Hip Hop, and Pop artists to come out of Sacramento and the Bay. He's known for my ear in mixing and his vocal arrangements, alongside his musicality.

Jacovia continues to work and collaborate with artists at his Sacramento Based Private Studio. He is skilled as a Studio Consultant (for building and mantaining) and a Sound Engineer.
